This Day in Failure, February 20

Another day in Failure.

2003: A fire breaks out during a Great White performance at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island, after the band’s pyrotechnic display ignites the building’s flammable soundproofing foam. One hundred people die—including Great White guitarist Ty Longley—and more than 200 are injured.

1938: British foreign minister Anthony Eden resigns as a means of protesting prime minister Neville Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement toward German leader Adolf Hitler.
