1994: The San Antonio Spurs’ season opening game is delayed 50 minutes when an indoor fireworks display triggers the sprinkler system inside the Alamodome, setting off a large water canon that drenching fans, coaches, and players alike.

1989: The Prairie View A&M University football team loses to Langston University 19-18, beginning a streak of an NCAA record 80 consecutive losses that continues until September 26, 1998, when the Panthers defeat Langston 14-12 in Oklahoma City. The nine-year streak is low-lighted by the 1991 season, during which the Panthers score a mere 48 points, while allowing an average of 56 points per game.

1984: The Seattle Seahawks return four interceptions for touchdowns—an NFL record—in a 45-0 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs.
