2009: Severe turbulence shakes Continental Airlines Flight 128--a 767-200 en route from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Houston--with 168 passengers and 11 crew members on board. The flight is diverted to Miami, where seven passengers are hospitalized and 19 others are treated for injuries.

1943: General George S. Patton slaps and verbally berates a private. Later, General Dwight D. Eisenhower orders Patton to apologize.
