SUV nearly backs over ABC reporter Ben Higgins on live TV

March 18, 2011— Ben Higgins was reporting live from Tucson last night on San Diego State’s first-ever win in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament when a white SUV backing up behind him almost ran him over.
Higgins lets out a startled “oh!” as his camera operator stopped the driver by striking the rear of the vehicle, but other than that, he gave little indication that he’d narrowly dodged serious injury—or at least a bad bruise.
The Aztecs defeated Northern Colorado 68-50. San Diego State will play again in Tucson on Saturday. One can expect Higgins to file his next report from the sidewalk.
