Simon Fraser University introduces a grade worse than F.

Grade F

According to the Calgary Herald, Simon Fraser University (SFU), in Burnaby, B.C., recently introduced a new grade (FD, failure with academic dishonesty), which, in effect, gives department heads at the school the option of imposing a grade worse than F.

Rob Gordon, director of SFU’s School of Criminology and chair of its Senate Committee on Academic Integrity in Student Learning and Evaluation, says the grade is intended to be used in "egregious cases of academic dishonesty,” such as submission of essays prepared by online essay-writing companies.
