The 2010 E-Class may be “the most advanced automobile [Mercedes-Benz] has ever created.” But the new television commercial advertising the E-Class begins with an airbag malfunction warning.

The new E-Class may be “the most advanced automobile [Mercedes-Benz] has ever created.” But in the first second of the television commercial advertising the 2010 E-Class, the driver starts the ignition and a warning light appears on the dashboard that reads: “Front Right SRS Malfunction. Service Required.”


Interestingly, the first sentence of the company’s official response to the error also reflects a lack of attention to detail. The statement [by Steve Cannon, Vice President, Marketing, Mercedes-Benz USA] begins: “While we are clearly flattered that someone would spend time pouring [sic] over every 1/100th of a second of our latest advert for the E Class we are obviously disappointed that this level of detail unintentionally revealed one of the car’s many safety warning features....”
