Great-great grandmother drives thru front door at Wendy’s

A great-great grandmother drove her 2000 Saturn thru the front door of a New Jersey Wendy's yesterday, causing patrons to run for cover.

An 82-year-old great-great grandmother from Nutley, New Jersey, drove her 2000 Saturn to a Wendy’s in Clifton yesterday, hoping to get a fish sandwich. Instead, she got more than she bargained for, after driving the car through the front entrance of the establishment, shattering the glass doors and forcing patrons to run for cover.

The driver, Carmella Finocchio, advised police she lost control as she pulled into the Wendy’s lot and attempted to park. “Thank God no one was coming out the front door when it happened,” Finocchio told a northjersey.com reporter as she nibbled at a Wendy’s burger and fries following the accident.

No one was injured in the accident and no charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation, according to police.

The restaurant’s dining room will remain closed until the glass is cleaned up and replaced.

Finocchio laments that the visit to the fast-food joint was all for naught. “I wanted a fish sandwich and they tell me they only make them at Eastertime.”
