February 8, 2012 -- During her Super Bowl halftime show Madonna urged the audience to strike a pose. And the audience has obliged by emulating the defeatist pose New England Patriots QB Tom Brady assumed after throwing an interception to Chase Blackburn during the Pats’ Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.
‘Bradying’ is all the rage on the Web, much like ‘Tebowing’ was during the NFL’s 2011 regular season. In fact, a Web site found at bradying.com now allows users to submit photos of themselves recreating Brady’s pose.
It’s perhaps no surprise that the Internet community would seek to take Brady down a notch. It’s not just that Brady is regularly lauded as the NFL’s best quarterback. Or that he’s now 0-2 in his last two Super Bowl appearances. Or that his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen, sparked a postgame controversy by publicly insulting Brady’s teammates immediately following the Super Bowl loss. It’s the fact that the Patriots are one of the most disliked professional sports teams, forever associated with cheating (thanks to the Bill Belichick ‘Spygate’ scandal), which has tainted the three Super Bowl titles the Patriots won with Brady at quarterback.
